FCC supports faculty in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Divinity School, Harris School, and SSA by funding France-related initiatives they propose through its online submission tool (see below). The amount of support provided—which can range from a few hundred dollars to $5000—varies according to the scope of the project and the time frame in which they are submitted. FCC also supports these faculty members through its Collège de France initiative, which:
- provides resources that allow them to invite faculty colleagues from the Collège de France to the University of Chicago for periods of time ranging from 8-15 days. Contact Dan Bertsche (email@example.com, or 2-3662) for more information. This link provides a list of faculty members at the Collège de France in History and Literature; this link provides a list of faculty members at the Collège de France in the Social Sciences.
- provides a yearlong fellowship ($26,000/quarter) to an advanced PhD student in the Humanities, Social Sicences, or the Divinity School, who conducts dissertation research under the guidance of a faculty member at the Collège de France.
- Limited financial support to University of Chicago faculty who are invited to lecture at the Collège de France.
FCC also supports these faculty members through its regular programming, the activities of the bi-weekly Workshop on Disciplinary Approaches to Modern France and the Francophone World, exchange opportunities with the Collège de France, and by providing funding for their students who conduct research, internships, or intensive language study in France.
